A well-known actor is throwing his support behind two Kansas State fans in the valley who were badly injured by a suspected drunk driver. That driver crashed into the pedi-cab they were in.
Now the online community is helping out.
The victim's families have temporarily relocated to the valley from Kansas, where the two young men are from. They were in town to watch the Fiesta Bowl.
The Tysver and Clark families are being told recovery could take up to six months -- the costs of living here are mounting and that's why Kinsey Schofield stepped in.
"Any amount of money is appreciated. Small increments of $5 to $25 encouraged. No one should start off their new year let alone their birthday in an ambulance."
Kinsey Schofield will never forget what she saw on Scottsdale Road in the early morning hours of January 4th.
"I was the first person to stumble across the accident after the Fiesta Bowl, saw the young men there, actually thought that they were dead," she says.
Police say suspected drunk driver 27-year-old Joseph Paul Spago ran his car into a pedi-cab. Two passengers, both 21 years old, were thrown into the street.
Michael Tysver and Cody Clark were critically injured.
"He basically has the same injuries that killed Dale Earnhardt -- separation of the spine from the skull," Joel Tysver, Michael's dad, told us by phone.
Schofield has since started a fund for the men. In just three days she has raised nearly $5,000.
Retweets from Kansas State alum and Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet and the Fiesta Bowl have added the star power she hopes will help the families pay for food and a place to stay so they can focus on their loved ones' recovery.
"I have no doubt that we will meet the goal of $10,000 and I have a really good feeling we will go beyond that, which I'm grateful for," says Schofield.
Schofield tells us she receives daily updates via text from Cody's sister and has received messages on the website from Michael's family. She looks forward to meeting them in person.
