Just before Tuesday's night's scheduled School Reform Commission meeting, dozens rallied in North Philadelphia in support of keeping their schools open.
Ten schools will be impacted in North Philadelphia as part of the district's plan.
Parents, teachers and students stood outside Pierce Elementary School Tuesday night, which is one of the schools on the chopping block.
SRC members are scheduled to discuss the plans as part of nine scheduled discussions.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. Warm temps stick around, too. And we do mean stick...because it'll be humid, too.
By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain. It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
