CHANDLER, Ariz. -

In the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting, gun sales are actually on the rise in the U.S. Some companies are even including coupon deals for things like gun training and safety classes.

But one popular coupon site has pulled their promotion with a local gun store.

Desert Valley Firearms in Chandler offers an 8-hour training course in this classroom on how to properly handle a gun.

"We offer a class for basic firearms training, introduction to firearms training as well as a conceal/carry class," says Dale Roddy of Desert Valley Firearms.

It normally costs $100, but the coupon website "DealChicken" recently contacted the business wanting to offer the training course for $39.

Owner Dale Roddy agreed, and the ad went up earlier this week, only to be taken down five hours later.

"We received a phone call from DealChicken stating that because of the concerns and the changing climate they needed to pull the firearms ads down," said Roddy.

Roddy feels he's getting a raw deal, since the entire point of his hands-on class isn't to sell guns, but to teach people what they need to know if they own one.

"This is a knee jerk reaction on your part. We understand you don't want to appear callous and insensitive -- but the reality is deaths continue to happen from people that don't know how to use firearms properly."

Roddy says he will still honor the price for anyone who comes in and mentions it -- and it's generating a lot of interest.

"It's really overwhelming, the outpouring of the community of Chandler, and the phone calls I've received have been absolutely outstanding."

We reached out to DealChicken for a comment, but they did not return our calls.
