Married women are less likely to experience domestic or substance abuse or postpartum depression during time of pregnancy.

Researchers studied data on more than 6,400 women and found that nearly 10% of married pregnant women experienced problems with abuse or postpartum depression.

In contrast, about 20% of women who lived with a partner had similar problems as did 35% of single women.
