Salvation Army donations down 9% this past holiday season

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Salvation Army said donations are down 9% this year.

The charity said donations to the red kettles that were out during the holidays have kept pace, but donations in the form of major gifts of $1,000 or more are down.

The Salvation Army said it needs more than $2.5 million by the end of January to meet its fundraising goal.
