Man killed, 8 injured in Ga. car accident

GREENVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man has died in a Meriwether County car accident that left his wife and seven children injured.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution (http://bit.ly/Un86O7) reports 30-year-old Victor Allen Moorer and his family were returning from visiting relatives in Montgomery, Ala. at the time of the accident Thursday afternoon. Police say Moorer's 2003 Nissan Xterra left the roadway, overturned in a wooded area and the driver's side of the car struck a tree.

Police say 2 of Moorer's children, ages 11 and 3, were airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Their siblings, ages, 10, 9, 7, 5 and a 9-month-old baby, have been treated and released. Authorities say Moorer's unidentified wife was taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital and would be released.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
