LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

Police in Limerick Township are warning parents to be aware of an emerging trend of marijuana known as "weed candy."

The Limerick Township Police Department on Wednesday put out a warning to parents on its Facebook page.

According to police, weed candy is the product of a fine grinding of marijuana and a mixing process that includes glucose based liquids.

The liquids are then allowed to harden into a rock-like candy, police say.

Police say a more advanced preparation can make the illegal substance appear to look like traditional candies.

Police say parents should be suspicious of unwrapped or re-wrapped candy.
