Small business owner worries what fiscal cliff could bring

PHOENIX -

While lawmakers and President Obama wrangle in Washington, folks just trying to make a living fear what may happen if our country goes over the fiscal cliff.

We met one small business owner worried about the situation.

The fiscal cliff means taxes go up at the same time there will be big spending cuts in the federal budget. Economists fear that will push the country into another recession.

The small business person we met fears the same thing. Nohl Rosen is a computer expert. His business is called Panthertek IT.

"I deal with viruses, I deal with malware, I deal with spyware, those are the big calls. Also data transfer, hard drives that have died," says Rosen.

As part of his job, Rosen makes house calls.

"When I go into people's homes and fix their machines it does get to talk of the fiscal cliff, talked about issues and taxes being raised, I have had to deal with all of that."

As a small business person, Rosen worries what will happen if Congress and the president can't strike a deal.

"It affects me because what happens is, small businesses my company supports, hold back on getting stuff done. We support residential customers too and they are worried about their bottom line," he says.

Rosen's plan to deal with this financial uncertainty: Work even harder to make more money. And hope he doesn't have to raise prices.

Rosen has a piece of advice which he thinks is really good, regardless of what's happening with the fiscal cliff. Do business with small business. But right now he's hoping Congress and the president reach an agreement.
