Eating asparagus before you drink may prevent a hangover

Posted: Updated:

Scientists say you should eat your asparagus. The reason? To take the edge off your New Year's hangover.

That's the recommendation from South Korean researchers who say asparagus extract has minerals and amino acids which could protect you from that post-party headache or worse.

The researchers at South Korea's Jeju National University focused on "chronic" drinking, but American experts at the Institute of Food Technologists in Illinois call asparagus an herbal medicine, which might help protect you from cancer and other illnesses.
