Queens could get High Line-style park

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Queens is one step closer to getting its own High Line-style public park, DNAinfo.com reported.

The QueensWay would be similar to Manhattan's High Line, which is a park created from an abandoned elevated railroad.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has given a grant to study the feasibility of converting the old LIRR Rockaway Line, which runs 3.5 miles between Forest Hills and Ozone Park, into a public park and greenway, according to the Trust for Public Land.

The Rockaway Line closed way back in 1962.

DNAinfo.com's Julie Shapiro comes to Fox 5 to talk about the story.
