BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. -

Less than two months after Hurricane sandy ripped through the northeast, many storm victims are still struggling to get their lives back to normal.

Still, communities along the Jersey Shore were determined not to let the storm ruin their Christmas.

In Little Ferry, Katie Leo and her family celebrated Christmas after the storm destroyed their basement.

Katie's dad, Michael, hired a contractor to get everything back to normal.

After opening gifts and spending time with family, the family says Christmas was just what they needed after a rough two months.

In Moonachie, the Vaccaro family got ready for their Christmas Day feast. The family dealt with flooding from the storm, but tells FOX they were grateful to celebrate the day with loved ones.
