St. Sabina to feed homeless this Christmas

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Associated Press) -

A Chicago church is providing free home-cooked meals to more than 400 homeless people this Christmas.

The Faith Community of Saint Sabina also will provide gifts and toys to the homeless men, women and children who attend the event at noon on Tuesday.

In a statement Monday, the Rev. Michael Pfleger says it's a Saint Sabina tradition to feed people who are struggling. He calls it "the true meaning of Christmas, to bring hope and love to a hurting world."

Last week, the church provided more than 2,000 free hot meals to homeless people. They've also distributed more than 900 free turkeys this holiday season.
