3 treated for hypothermia after canoe capsizes

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT ARLINGTON, N.J. (AP) - Three men were treated for hypothermia after their canoe capsized in a northern New Jersey lake.

Mount Arlington police tell the Daily Record of Parsippany that it's not clear what caused the accident or why the men decided to take the canoe out on Lake Hopatcong early Monday.

The canoe apparently capsized around 3 a.m., plunging the three men into the frigid water. All three were able to quickly swim to shore, though, and they soon returned to a nearby home where 1 of them lives.

The three men were treated at a hospital and released later Monday.
