Kayla's wish to meet Taylor Swift

Posted: Updated:
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A Madison Heights teenager celebrated her 17th birthday Saturday in the midst of a ferocious battle against brain cancer. She has a special wish to meet her idol, Taylor Swift, and her whole school is getting involved to try and make it happen.

The night before her birthday last year, Kayla Kincannon was admitted to the hospital. That's when the bright, beautiful and vibrant Lamphere High School student learned she was battling brain cancer. For the last year, she's been undergoing chemotherapy and it appeared to be working. The tumor all but disappeared. Sadly, Kayla recently learned she has another, larger, brain tumor which developed during her treatment.

News of the second tumor has rocked Kayla, her family, and friends but she's forging ahead with courage and faith. Meanwhile, her friends are working on a social media campaign to give her an amazing Christmas gift. They've launched the campaign on Twitter with the hashtag #OperationGetKaylaToMeetTaylorSwift. The topic is now trending worldwide.

Kayla is grateful. So far, no word from Taylor Swift or her representatives.
