Some airport delays cause trouble for travelers

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

More than 93 million Americans are expected to travel this holiday season and many of them are flying out of LaGuardia Airport on Saturday.

"I'm going to Canada to visit my grandma, my grandpa and cousin!" said one young and excited traveler.

Travelers were especially excited because the delays at LaGuardia were few and far between – a big difference from Friday. Area airports canceled nearly 200 flights due to severe storms in the Midwest.

"I was a little bit worried about the winds but there just about seven minutes late so that's not so bad," said Deborah Borchardt of Westchester County.

The delay might be minor but this Christmas will definitely be a different one for Borchardt.

While we still don't know if it's going to be a white Christmas, so far it's a cold holiday season. Many travelers say while it's great to see relatives and friends it's also great to go somewhere warm.

"It feels good because nit's cold over here!" said one traveler headed to Houston.

"Miami! We have an apartment there and we love it," said one family headed to Florida.

Right now there are now delays at LaGuardia but the same can't be said for JFK and Newark Airport. At Newark, there approximately a 40 minute delay and at JFK, it's actually worse as most travelers are experiencing more than an hour and a half delay.
