DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) -- A bus filled with toys and local firefighters arrived to brighten the holiday season for a group of special needs children.

Nearly 40 Dearborn firefighters dropped off gifts and visited with children at the Oakwood Center for Exceptional Families Tuesday morning.

"To have the firefighters come celebrate Christmas with them is amazing," said Dr. Susan Youngs, who runs the center designed to help children with a wide variety of developmental disabilities.

Cpt. Steven Worden says his department saves money all year long to buy the toys and looks forward to the event, now in its 25th year. "It's a lot of hard work but we can use that money to help kids," said Worden.

If you'd like to help the firefighters pay for future toys, raffle tickets are being sold at all Dearborn firehouses during normal business hours.
