Nevada man gets 15 years for bank robberies

Posted: Updated:

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Nevada man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for robbing banks in New Mexico, Arizona and Florida.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in New Mexico says 27-year-old Justin Wolaver of Las Vegas was sentenced in federal court in Santa Fe on Thursday.

He'll be on supervised release for five years following his time in prison. He's also been ordered to pay restitution to the three banks.

Federal prosecutors say Wolaver pleaded guilty earlier this year to robbing a Bank of America branch in Hudson, Fla., and a Chase Bank branch in Flagstaff, Ariz.

He also pleaded guilty to robbing the Bank of America in Raton, N.M.

All the robberies took place in May 2011.

He was captured after trying to outrun authorities in New Mexico.
