Doctors warn about holiday decorating dangers

PHOENIX -

'Tis the season for holiday decorations -- but experts say many accidents happen during this time of year.

St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is reminding the public to be cautious when using a ladder to decorate during the holiday season.

"Over the past 15 years I've taken care of hundreds of people who have had neurological injuries, brain injuries, spinal injuries from doing something as simple as hanging Christmas lights," said Dr. Nicholas Theodore, a neurosurgeon at St. Joseph's Barrow.

Experts say you should always decorate with another person just to be safe.

St. Joseph's Trauma Center treated more than 65 patients who fell off ladders last December alone.
