Holiday decorating on a budget

ATLANTA -

Looking to spruce up your holiday decor but don't have the money to do it? Designer Krystee Manifold Spencer joined Good Day Atlanta on Thursday with some design ideas that won't break the bank.

Tips:

1. Paper decorations -- origami cranes strung with plastic beads for use as a garland anywhere indoors. Vellum folded snow flakes that the kids can help fold. They are fully customizable to the color scheme you want to use for the holidays.

2. Wine bottle re-purposing -- painted with chalkboard paint and with holiday themes written on them as a centerpiece.  Candles can housed in glass candleholders created by cutting the wine bottles (which can also be gifted as hostess gifts) and turning the corks into small Christmas trees for use as decorations.

3. Glamming up free items to include in your holiday decor. The centerpieces, garland, tree can be decorated with glittered pine cones frosted sticks found outside.

4. Using an inexpensive material like burlap in multi uses.  You can add a little metallic paint to it and create a table runner or table top, cut pieces for placemats, cut strips to use on the tree strung with the lights, and using it to create small gift bags to put the candles in.
