Man dies after jumping out of ambulance

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

On the city's Northwest side, officials say a man died after he jumped out of an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Romero Reynosa, 20, suffered major head trauma when he jumped out near Thorndale and Oriole, Monday.

Fire officials tell FOX 32 News the man was cooperative inside the ambulance.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says preliminary reports indicate Reynosa said he needed to vomit and a medic unbuckled one of the straps that held him to the ambulance's gurney. Langford says that's when Reynosa got free, opened the back door of the ambulance and jumped out into the street.
