How Dangerous Is Driving While Stoned?

Posted: Updated:

More and more states are relaxing laws when it comes to marijuana. But could that lead to more people driving stoned?

Nationally, 23 percent of those killed in auto accidents have some drug other than alcohol in their system. The fear is that legalizing pot will only make things worse.

Now, pot advocates say that's not true, that smokers know when they're too high to drive.

Well, Washington state is taking no chances, imposing a strict limit on the amount of pot drivers can have in their system.

While illegal, research shows more drivers have been driving while high.

Yet studies, like one in Europe, show too much marijuana affects coordination and judgment.

Fox's William La Jeunesse has more in this video report on what states are doing to keep people from smoking pot before they get behind the wheel.
