Helicopter crashes into Arizona lake with 3 aboard

Posted: Updated:

PAYSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a helicopter with three people aboard has crashed into Roosevelt Lake in northern Arizona.

Gila County Sheriff's officials say the craft went into the water around 3 p.m. Friday.

They say all three people were pulled from the helicopter by boaters in the lake, which is between Payson and Globe.

There was no immediate word on any fatalities and authorities didn't know if any of the three people suffered any injuries.

Two medical helicopters were dispatched to the lake to transport the people to hospitals if needed.

Sheriff's spokesman Mike Johnson says authorities don't immediately know who owned the helicopter and why it went down.
