The Talker: Should marijuana be legalized in Illinois?

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Starting Thursday, it's legal to smoke pot in Washington state. Now we're wondering, should it be legal here in Illinois?

Washington's new law kicked in at midnight, and folks went out to the Space Needle in Seattle to celebrate.

The law has a lot of legal problems. For example, it's legal to smoke pot but it's not legal to grow it, buy it, or sell it. So where you're supposed to get it from is unclear.

Medical marijuana was already legal in Washington, so some pot smokers have tried hitting up the medical marijuana shops. That's a no go.

And here's another issue that would have to be addressed -- whether or not bosses can fire you, if you have marijuana in your system, legal or not.

The teamsters say they'll fight for union worker's rights to get high.
