The first medical marijuana dispensary is now open in New Jersey.
The Greenleaf Compassion Center opened its doors in Montclair Thursday.
Nearly 400 people in the Garden State are registered for New Jersey's medicinal marijuana program, which was signed into law by former Gov. Jon Corzine.
The law allows people with certain medical conditions to use marijuana.
The dispensary's CEO, Joseph Stevens, says he and four others put together nearly half a million dollars to open the business. Stevens says they plan to start by serving only 20 clients each day and only by appointment.
New Jersey Health Commissioner Mary E. O'Dowd says her department has worked closely with Greenleaf to ensure the integrity of the program.
