PHOENIX -

Police say 37-year-old was arrested for sexually abusing two young girls on Tuesday. His wife was also arrested for allegedly knowing about it and letting it happen.

Patrick Connaughton was arrested after a teenage girl told police he has been abusing her for the last 10 years.

37-year-old Mary Connaughton was also arrested after police say she told them she knew about the abuse and did nothing to stop it.

Police say they found a teenage runaway and when questioned, she told them she was being sexually abused by Patrick Connaughton.

During the investigation, police say they found out another girl had also been abused.

Detectives say Patrick Connaughton admitted to abusing the two girls. They also say Mary Connaughton told them she didn't report anything because she was afraid of becoming homeless.

Patrick Connaughton was booked on charges of sexual conduct with a minor, public sexual indecency and sexual abuse.  Mary Connaughton was booked on one count of child abuse for failing to protect.
