PSCO catches 3 illegals, $226,500 worth of marijuana

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. -

Deputies caught three illegal immigrants after they bailed out of an SUV near I-8 on Tuesday.

A Pinal County Sheriff's deputy tried to pull an SUV over he saw the driver speeding down I-8.

The driver refused to pull over, sped up to 95 mph and turned onto a side road.

Deputies say the driver got the SUV stuck in some rocks and he threw the door open and ran. The two passengers bailed out of the car too.

The deputy chased the driver, 28-year-old Trinidad Cordova-Villena, and took him into custody.

The PCSO Air Unit was about find the two passengers about two miles into the desert. Deputies say they admitted to being in the U.S. illegally and were turned over to Border Patrol to be deported.

Inside the SUV, deputies found 302 pounds of marijuana worth $226,500.

Cordova-Villena, of Mexico, was arrested and booked into a detention center for felony flight, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana.
