CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some Chicago animal shelters and rescue centers are getting an unusual holiday gift this year: A large donation of pet food from a 16-year-old girl and Ellen DeGeneres.

Mimi Ausland founded FreeKibble.com which helps give away food for homeless pets.

Ausland started the site five years ago when she was just 11 years old. Now the site gets 100,000 visitors, and even Ellen DeGeneres is a fan.

So the two teamed up to give free pet food to shelters here in Chicago. Colin Holmes from Pet Supplies Plus explained how.
