MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -- Police say eight people suffered serious injuries during a hit-and-run accident earlier this week.

Lt. Corey Haines says patrol officers came across a wrecked mini-van on Stephenson Highway near 11 Mile Road early Sunday morning. Officers say the van was being used as a taxi cab and was occupied by seven women and one man.

Haines says there was no sign of the striking vehicle, but it has been described as a black Dodge Ram, possibly with an extended cab. Police believe the truck sustained heavy damage to the front end.

There is no word on the victims' conditions.

Anyone with information is asked to call Madison Heights police at 248-585-2100.
