Report: teacher accused of sex misconduct released

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York City teacher who was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has reportedly been released from police custody.

The New York Post reports that the Queens district attorney has deferred on filing criminal charges against 33-year-old Urszula Jankowska.

Jandowska was arrested Monday. The city Department of Education said she was removed from her school following the allegations of sexual misconduct with a student.

The Post said the relationship with the female teen allegedly lasted for several years. The report said the teen was initially in Jankowska's class at Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design in Brooklyn.

A spokeswoman for the district attorney's office could not confirm the report that the office is deciding whether to prosecute Jankowska.
