Health officials say it's almost two months early and that if you haven't already gotten a flu shot, you need to do it now.
The shot takes two weeks to kick in and if you get a shot now you will have the protection you need for family gatherings and parties during the holidays.
"The flu shot is the best protection against the flu," says Walgreen Pharmacy Manger Nancy Salman. "It is not going to make you sick, it is completely inactive, the flu shot, the nasal mist is active, but the flu shot itself is inactive, it will not make you sick."
Health officials also predict this year's flu strain will lead to more people needing to be hospitalized.
