PHOENIX -

Police have made an arrest in connection to the death of a man whose body was found dumped in front of a business.

Steven Anthony Benavidez is facing charges of conspiracy - first degree murder, assisting a criminal syndicate, weapons misconduct, and drug-related charges.

Erasmo Ledezma was found dead in the area of Washington and 40th Streets on Nov. 22. In the days before his death, Ledezma had reportedly talked to friends and said the Mexican mafia was after him and had a "green light" to kill him.

Police say that Benavidez told people he was looking for Ledezma before he was found dead. Benavidez and an accomplice, Julio Carrizoza, allegedly forced Ledezma's friends to tell them where he was – and shortly after he was found dead.

Ledezma was shot to death. Court documents say it is clear that the Mexican mafia conspired to have Ledezma killed. They thought he was a snitch.

During a search of Benavidez's home, police found a handgun and a shotgun. He claimed he had them for "protection."
