NOGALES, Ariz. -

A 25-year-old Nogales, Mexico woman was arrested Thursday in a border smuggling attempt.

Customs and Border Protection officers say she tried to take 28 pounds of cocaine and 16 pounds of meth through the Mariposa port of entry.

CBP says a drug-sniffing canine alerted to a Ford Mustang driven by Rosa Isela Santos. Officers allegedly located 24 packages of drugs inside of the vehicle's quarter panels.

The drugs were valued at $508,000.

The drugs and the vehicle were seized and Santos was turned over to ICE's Homeland Security Investigations.
