Pawn shop records help nab burglary suspect

Posted: Updated:
WILLIAMS, Ariz. -

Sheriff's deputies have arrested a 25-year-old man who they say burglarized at least one house near Parks, Ariz.

Colt Henson was booked Wednesday on charges of trafficking in stolen property, first degree burglary, misdemeanor theft, and felony theft of a firearm.

During the past year, Coconino County deputies assigned to the Williams/Grand Canyon Patrol District have investigated five burglaries in the Garland Prairie area, south of Parks.

During an unrelated investigation, Henson's name was mentioned as a possible suspect, CCSO said.

A sergeant looked into recent pawn activity by Henson, and found that he had recently sold two items -- a gun and a necklace -- that were suspected of being stolen during one of the residential burglaries.

The sergeant confirmed it was Henson who sold the items by reviewing paperwork and surveillance footage from the pawn shop, authorities say.

In a police interview on Wednesday, Henson admitted his involvement in the burglary during which the gun and necklace were taken.

The investigation is ongoing as to whether or not Henson is responsible for the other burglaries in the area.
