Russell Pearce's brother censured for improper conduct

Posted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -

Wednesday, the state Supreme Court handed down a punishment to Russell Pearce's brother for misconduct while in office.

Lester Pearce campaigned for his brother Russell Pearce last year during the recall election while serving as a judge.

But that kind of political activity is not allowed for sitting judges.

Among his actions: Pearce went along with his niece gathering petition signatures for alleged sham candidate Olivia Cortes.

The Supreme Court formally censured Lester Pearce. He must also pay a $15,000 fine.

He stepped down as judge back in April. His brother lost the recall election.
