CLAWSON, Mich. (WJBK) -- Patrick Lynch and Bettye Fagan became fast friends during a difficult time.  Her grandmother, 103-year-old Gussie Weaver, passed away at the end of August.  She had prepaid for her funeral and even written her own obituary, but when it came time for her family to make arrangements, the money and the funeral home were gone.

Immediately after our story aired, Lynch, owner of Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors, called Fox 2.

"I saw the story about Mrs. Weaver and the plight the family was is, and I thought we can help," he said.

What happened next was amazing, such generosity from so many who wanted to give this woman they never knew a beautiful burial all thanks to Patrick Lynch stepping forward.  For that, Weaver's family wanted to give him something special back.

Shortly after Weaver's death, the Lynches were blessed with a beautiful grandson and her family had a collage made in his honor.  But there is something else that is perhaps the best gift of all.

"The most important thing that has come out of this is that we have developed a deep friendship that will last forever," Fagan said.

Surely somewhere up above Gussie Weaver is smiling.
