Masked gunman shoots, kills Arizona Grain employee

MARICOPA, Ariz. -

Police surrounded a grain store south of the valley after a worker was shot and killed Tuesday morning.

Around 2:45 a.m., a man in a ski mask came onto the grounds of the Arizona Grain, located near Cowtown and Porter Roads.

He confronted two workers who were in an off-loading area, and shot one of them. There was no arguing before the shooting.

"Looked at one individual, figured that wasn't him, looked at the other individual, first name of Orlando... took him down with 6 shots of a large caliber weapon," says Bill Sawyer of Pinal Feeding Company, which is located next door to Arizona Grain.

The suspected gunman is still on the loose. There's no word yet on a motive or a description of the suspect, but police do believe the victim was deliberately targeted.

The victim is 26-year-old Orlando Requena. His job was to load and unload trains. He worked there for the past 2 years.

Anyone who might have been a vehicle parked on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway near Arizona Grain at the time of the shooting is asked to call police.
