CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

One more thing, about a Notre Dame fan who watched the Irish beat USC in Los Angeles Saturday.

VIDEO: Interview with Rudy Reuttiger

Rudy Reuttiger is a very special Notre Dame fan, whose inspiring story was the subject of the popular 1993 movie called Rudy. In the film, Rudy overcomes countless obstacles and rejections to persevere and realize his lifelong dream to play football for Notre Dame.

This weekend, Rudy was in the stands cheering for his beloved fighting Irish, and getting a few cheers himself.

Rudy was asked to compare himself to Notre Dame's star linebacker Manti Teo.

"I play with passion and heart to play one moment and I got there because of preparation and belief," Rudy says. "He plays because of his talent and he keeps preparing and keeps getting better because God's given him that talent and he doesn't forget where he came from. So, he works just as hard."

Maybe Rudy's movie magic rubbed off on TV Saturday night. The Notre Dame/USC game was the highest rated college football game in six years.

As for the ongoing popularity of tha movie, Rudy has been named one of the top 25 sports movies of the past 25 years and one of the most inspiring films of all time.
