CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -- Police say 15-year-old Cody Strine returned home unharmed Sunday morning after being missing for more than a week.
Cody's mother, Kelly Rowland, tells Fox 2 that the teen was staying in a friend's basement for a portion of the time he was missing.
On Nov. 16, Strine went outside to throw some away some trash; he never returned. Volunteers handed out flyers at fast food restaurants and other stops in the area where the teen was last seen. Meantime, family members set up camp in the club house at the Townhouse Plaza near 15 Mile and Kelly Road in Clinton Twp., the last place family members saw Cody.
Cheri Heaton was Cody's neighbor. Two years ago she became his legal guardian to help give the Fraser High School student a fresh start. He's emotionally impaired, but has been improving. Cody, whose real name is "Dakota," left home without a coat, cell phone or any money. With the temperatures dropping, concern is growing about his well being.
