A pharmacist fought back during a robbery attempt Friday morning and was able to prevent a crime. Prescott Valley Police quickly arrested the suspect.

About 8 a.m., officers responded to the CVS at Windsong and SR 69. They learned that an armed man had tried to rob the drug store.

The suspect entered the store and demanded prescription drugs while wielding the handgun. The suspect was refused the drugs and turned to flee.

The pharmacist, a 51-year-old Chandler man, wrestled with the suspect as he attempted to flee. During the struggle, the suspect lost control of the gun, and got away.

Officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect in the area. He was identified as 23-year-old Preston A. Tisthammer and allegedly admitted to the offense.

Police say that Tisthammer used a stolen handgun he took from a vehicle the day prior.

Tisthammer was booked into the Yavapai County Jail for armed robbery, burglary, and possession of stolen property.
