The Salvation Army served about 300 people a Thanksgiving Breakfast along with a take-away Turkey Food Basket for 150 families at the local Salvation Army branch in Hackensack, NJ.
Food was provided in partnership with The Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
The Salvation Army invited guests from the community, including low income families, parents, children and grandparents, the handicapped, and seniors to a complete hearty traditional Thanksgiving Day Breakfast, including scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon and hash browns.
Take-away turkeys were also given to families for their Thanksgiving Dinner.
"We wanted to address families' needs by providing breakfast, the most important meal of the day, together with the essentials for a traditional Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner," said Paul Valverde, Salvation Army Lieutenant, Corps Commanding Officer in Hackensack, N.J.
The Salvation Army has been in existence since 1865 helping those in need without discrimination. It is the largest social services organization in New Jersey and the second largest disaster relief organization in the state. The Salvation Army provides food for the hungry, companionship to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, opportunities for underprivileged children, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled and many more services to those in need.
