PHOENIX -

A robbery at a Walgreens pharmacy turned into a pursuit Wednesday near Central Avenue and Bell Road.

A man armed with a gun walked into the pharmacy demanding oxycodone and fled the scene with the drugs.

A pursuit ensued and the suspect was seen driving a silver Volkswagen Jetta.  He refused to pull over for the police, but officers caught up with him in a nearby neighborhood.

Police found him hiding in a shed behind a home near 4th Drive and Utopia Avenue with a handgun and a knife.

Before being taken into custody, the suspect was bitten by a police K-9, but is expected to be okay.

Authorities did not release the man's name.
