Diehard Shoppers Enter 3rd Night Of Camping Outside NJ Stores

Posted: Updated:

A handful of diehard shoppers are on their third night of camping outside a Deptford Best Buy ahead of the busiest shopping day of the year.

Call it the calm before the shopping storm.

'Twas the night before turkey and all through the store, there were TVs and video games and tablets galore.

Shopper Bonita Pettiford of Camden spent part of her Wednesday night planning a shopping strategy for Black Friday.

"I am planning my strategy so that I can know where everything is," Pettiford told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell.

While inside the Best Buy store, preparations continue for the throngs of shoppers, outside a tent city has popped up for shoppers.

Many are trading in a day of turkey for a good deal.

The hum of generators powering heaters and video games has replaced the sounds of holiday music.

Over at the Deptford Kmart, where doors open at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, more campers wait.

Some retailers are open early Thursday morning, but most of the major stores open at 8 p.m. Thursday night.
