HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -- During the lunch hour Wednesday, two guys were arguing on the sidewalk outside Republic Liquor at West Grand Street and Woodward in Highland Park.  Suddenly one of the guys pulled a gun, then pulled the trigger.

"Like an AK-47, a loud boom, I almost fell off my bike," said one witness.  "I thought they were shooting at me.  I hit the deck."

Highland Park police officers who were inside a Wendy's fast food restaurant across the street saw it all.  The officers ran out and witnesses said police fired at the suspect.

Highland Park Police will only say it's all under investigation, but they do confirm one adult male who did not have a weapon was shot three or four times.  The suspected shooter escaped in a white SUV.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.  None of the officers were injured.

If you have information call Highland Park Police.
