Many soldiers who sacrifice and serve our country are among the thousands of people returning home for the Thanksgiving holiday. A Marietta family was among those at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Wednesday to reunite with a loved one.
Army Pfc. Regina Rhodes was greeted by her sister Anntoinette and father Reginald.
"We haven't seen each other for…over a year and to have her home for Thanksgiving. It's a blessing," said Reginald Rhodes.
Regina, a 19-year-old Paulding County High School graduate, has been serving as a chemical specialist in Korea.
"I'm happy that she is actually taking a sacrifice, serving our country and it's her risking her life every day. It puts me in a situation where I'm like, ‘Oh my God. I hope nothing happens to my baby sister,'" said Anntoinette Rhodes.
Reginald Rhodes said that serving in the military runs in the family: he served 12 yeas in the Navy, another daughter was in the Navy and now Regina is in the Army.
Regina Rhodes said that the tour in Korea was her first time away from home. Her next assignment will be stateside
"Just to be home with my family, it's the best feeling ever. I'm just really happy to be here," said Regina Rhodes.
