Posted: Updated:

A church in Camden is making sure hundreds of people don't go hungry this Thanksgiving.

Organizers at the Cathedral Immaculate Conception Church say they started their effort with nothing, but that didn't stop them from passing out sandwiches to the needy in their community.

While the church has a lot of mouths to feed, organizers tell FOX 29's Stephanie Esposito they are astounded by the generosity of the community and businesses who have pitched into make Thanksgiving for many people a reality.

They say sometimes Camden is overlooked or branded by bad news, but many here are proud to show the city's compassion.

The window at the church is open every day at 10 a.m. until noon for people in need.

Donations to the Cathedral Immaculate Conception Church can be dropped off at 642 Market Street in Camden.
