TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Tucson man has been arrested in connection with a burglary case in which a city police officer was shot.
Tucson police say 29-year-old Richard "Ricky" Mendoza was being held Tuesday on suspicion of first- and second-degree burglary and being a felon in possession of a gun.
Authorities didn't immediately know if Mendoza had an attorney as of Tuesday night.
Police say Mendoza isn't currently facing charges in the shooting last Sunday morning that critically wounded Sgt. Robert Carpenter.
Carpenter was shot in the head while outside a home during a burglary call.
Police say the 46-year-old officer remains in critical yet stable condition after undergoing surgery.
They say a reward of up to $26,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the shooting case.
