Glendale Battalion Chief in NYC to help out

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -

A battalion chief for Glendale Fire will spend his thanksgiving helping the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Chris Gustafson has been in New York City for about a week now.

He's leading a team of 66 people, helping provide medical care for people affected by the storm. Many of the people on his team are from Arizona.

Meanwhile on the east coast, homeowners are slowly being allowed to return home to gather belongings and check on their houses.

Some have been marked for demolition, while for others, mold is a growing concern.

Thousands of people have been displaced by Superstorm Sandy, but help is still coming in.

New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees announced Monday he's donating $1 million to recovery efforts.
