Chandler Police get DUI enforcement grant

Posted: Updated:
CHANDLER, Ariz. -

The Chandler Police Department has received a $65,000 DUI enforcement grant, made possible by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.

The grant will pay for additional officers to focus solely on impaired drivers during the 2012 holiday season.

The grant will also fund DUI enforcement during 2013's major holidays, such as Super Bowl Sunday, spring break, prom, and graduation.

Officers funded by the grant are also specially trained in DUI detection methods, and that includes the presence of prescription or illicit drugs.
