Car hits girl near J.B. Sutton Elementary

PHOENIX -

A young child was transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital after being hit by a car near 31st Avenue and Roosevelt Monday morning.

The girl apparently ran into the street outside J.B. Sutton Elementary School.

Police closed the area to gather evidence at the scene, talked to the driver and other witnesses during the investigation.

The child remains in serious condition.

It's unknown if the driver was impaired or if the girl was in a crosswalk.

No names were released in this case.
