NEW YORK (AP) - New York City has extended its odd-even gas rationing system through Friday.

Gas rationing has ended in New Jersey and on Long Island.

But Mayor Michael Bloomberg says 30% of New York City's stations are still closed.

He also noted that it's a major travel week. He says the extension should help prevent long lines.

Rationing went into effect in the city on Nov. 9 in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Damage to gas stations and distribution networks had led to hours-long lines.
